Freier, Recha (1892-1984) Founder of Youth Aliyah She conceived the idea in 1932 and, at that time, established the first organisations that trained German-Jewish children and teenagers for rural settlement and vocational and agricultural labour in Palestine. In the Nazi period, the Zionist movement institutionalised and expanded this activity. Freier served Youth Aliyah energetically until she emigrated to Palestine in 1940 via Yugoslavia and Greece. In Palestine, she remained active in children's education and welfare.
